Osella PA/N Alfa Romeo 3.000 1984
The team came to life by fielding Abarth sports cars in national and international competitions in the late 1960s. At the beginning of the 70s, Osella acquired all the material (vehicles and components) on the occasion of the liquidation of Abarth, before the acquisition of the brand by FIAT. He also began to build sports cars for covered wheel races (uphill and sport), specializing in group 6 cars. In 1974 he also began to build single-seater cars (Formula 2 and Formula Ford). In 1975, the Formula 2 car (Osella FA2) obtained one point in the European championship standings with François Migault. A further attempt took place in 1976 but without results also due to the lack of sponsorships.
However, Osella had remained strongly linked to the world of sports cars, building two-seater cars of excellent workmanship. Worth mentioning are the successes in the European Championship dedicated to "Group 6" cars and above all the victory in the 1981 "1000 km of Mugello", the world championship race with Giorgio Francia and Lella Lombardi with an Osella PA8-BMW.
It was and is normal to see a crowd of Osella popularizing uphill races throughout Europe with excellent results (many victories in the European Hill Climb Championship, with Mauro Nesti and Simone Faggioli in particular in many national championships)
After retiring from F.1, the Osella moved from Piedmont to Atella in Basilicata and continues to be one of the favorite cars of sports car drivers today (in 2007 it won the German, French and Italian hillclimb championships and also the Italian one on the track).
In 2009-2010 the company moved, returning to Piedmont, to the new headquarters in Verolengo, together with the sister company Osella Service, already dealing with technical assistance for sports customers.
The PA/N 001 chassis was built in 1984 for the newborn Sport Nazionale category. After a brief activity on the track, it was purchased by the current owner in 2004 and used exclusively in uphill races. It is fitted with an Alfa Romeo V6 3000 engine tuned by Galletti and is in absolutely original condition.
It is offered race ready with a spare set of wheels.
It has a valid FIA HTP until 2024.
